We're looking for a Software Engineer who enjoys working close to the operating system, solving complex technical problems and building software that interacts directly with hardware and Windows services.
This role offers something different from traditional application development—combining Windows engineering, systems programming and distributed communication with opportunities to modernise an established platform.
Why F24?
You'll join a small engineering team with significant ownership and freedom to explore new technologies.
The team is modernising both the software and hardware platform, moving towards a more accessible web-based architecture while continuing to support large-scale communication systems handling thousands of connected devices.
If you enjoy understanding how computers work beneath the application layer, this role offers a rare opportunity to work across operating systems, hardware integration and large-scale event processing.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop native Windows applications and background services
- Build software that communicates with hardware devices and Windows drivers
- Develop long-running Windows services and system components
- Work with DLLs, Windows APIs and low-level system libraries
- Process high volumes of device events and communication streams
- Help modernise the Media Gateway platform and supporting infrastructure
- Collaborate closely with engineers across Croatia and Germany
- Participate in technical discussions, R&D and architectural improvements
About You
You'll likely have experience with:
- Native Windows application development
- Windows Services and long-running background processes
- Windows APIs, DLLs and system-level programming
- Hardware integration or device communication
- Multithreaded or event-driven systems
- Troubleshooting operating system and hardware issues
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills
- Raspberry Pi, Arduino or personal hardware projects
- Bluetooth, beacons or IoT devices
- IP telephony
- Industrial systems or embedded hardware
- German language skills (beneficial but not required).
What you'll enjoy
- Working on technology that's difficult to find elsewhere
- Modernising both software and hardware platforms
- Small team with significant ownership and technical influence
- Opportunities for R&D and experimentation
- Potential travel to Germany and customer environments
- Exposure to industrial technology, communications infrastructure and large-scale distributed systems
- Career progression as the engineering organisation continues to grow
