Purpose of the Position
The purpose of the position is to ensure a coherent technical direction, high quality, and efficient execution of software development activities across the company’s products and solutions.

The Lead Software Engineer holds overall technical responsibility for architecture, technology choices, and technical standards, and ensures that the company’s products are stable, secure, scalable, and aligned with business objectives and customer needs. The role acts as a key liaison between development, product management, and other relevant stakeholders.

Organizational Placement
The Lead Software Engineer works closely with Software Engineers, Senior Software Engineers, product management, support, operations, and other relevant internal and external stakeholders. The role has a particular responsibility for technical coordination and alignment across teams.

Responsibility and Authority
The Lead Software Engineer has overarching technical responsibility for software development and technical solutions and shall perform the role in accordance with applicable policies, strategies, and decisions.
The position is responsible for:

Defining and maintaining technical direction, architecture, and technological principles
Ensuring high technical quality, robust architecture, and long-term maintainability
Reviewing, approving, and quality-assuring technical solutions and architectural decisions
Prioritizing technical initiatives in cooperation with the Product Manager
Identifying, assessing, and reducing technical debt and technical risk
Ensuring compliance with requirements related to quality, information security, and data protection
Applying and further developing best practices for secure software development
Contributing to competence development, mentoring, and technical guidance of developers
Supporting the handling of technically complex and critical incidents

The Lead Software Engineer is authorized to make technical decisions within the defined scope of responsibility and is expected to exercise technical leadership on behalf of the development organization.

Duties and Tasks
The duties include strategic, coordinating, and operational activities and may vary depending on business needs.
Key duties include:

Defining, documenting, and maintaining system architecture
Leading technical discussions and decision-making processes
Performing and leading technical assessments and code reviews
Contributing to planning, estimation, and prioritization of development work
Ensuring technical quality and consistency across teams and products
Participating operationally in development work when required
Contributing to continuous improvement of development processes, methodologies, and quality

Professional Experience

Strong and well-documented experience with PHP-based development
Solid experience with databases, including data modeling, querying, and performance considerations
Experience with HTML and CSS for building and maintaining user interfaces
Experience with JavaScript and/or TypeScript, including modern frontend and backend usage
Experience working across the full stack, from user interface to backend logic and data storage
Documented experience with system architecture, complex systems, and technical decision-making
Experience with modern development methodologies and cross-functional collaboration
